Christmas Morning..Skiing Bliss!

The busiest week of the year, hotel/inn wise is starting but before our guests arrive this afternoon, Alan and I decided to take advantage of the reduced lift tickets at Belleayre and get in a few runs...our first for the season. We were pleasantly surprised at the great conditions and happy that the slopes were not crowded! The views from the top of Belleayre are always spectacular but they were even more dazzling with the frozen snow on the branches. We are expecting more snow this evening and there is talk of a big storm mid-week. As we are fully booked through January 1, the ski conditions should make our guests happy.

Time to bake our signature banana walnut oatmeal muffins for tomorrow's breakfast!

Happy Holidays! Come join us next year!

It's Snowing at Belleayre

The sun is shining and reflecting off the snowflakes which starts about an hour ago. The temperature dropped last night to below 30. They have been making snow up at Belleayre Ski Center for days. Today is opening day!

As I write this, I can smell the banana walnut bread baking in the oven. There's nothing like home baked muffins and breads to start your morning especially if you are headed to the slopes. The phones been ringing and our Catskills bed and breakfast, Breezy Hill Inn,  is filling up for Xmas week and beyond. The Breezy Hill Rental is available for holiday weeks and weekends this season as well.

We are headed to the Round Barn for the Saturday after Thanksgiving event to see what the farmers have on offer.

It's a great day in the Catskills!

WInters Coming...Flurries this Morning

November is here and the snow flurries have already started. This morning the temperature was in the low 30's and snow flurries were upon us. We are in the midst of the Catskill Mountains snow belt; snow comes early and stays long! Belleayre Ski Center is planning on opening on November 13th this year; we are getting many inquiries for stays at the Breezy Hill Inn and at the Breezy Hill Rental. We are expecting to rent the farmhouse for the season but if not, we will rent it by the week or weekend.

August Nights are Cool and Refreshing!

Today is a picture perfect day, not a cloud in the sky and the breeze is especially welcome! Last night the temperature went down into the 50s. Remember the days when you went to camp and you put on your jeans and sweatshirt in the morning. By 10 o'clock you were back in the bunk peeling off the long sleeved top and putting on shorts anda tank. Well, that the weather we are having here in the !

This morning our Breezy Hill Inn guests had farm ripened melon to start off breakfast along with freshly baked banana walnut muffins. Omelets with home grown chives and sharp cheddar cheese fluffy omelets were the main course. Tomorrow, we're making German apple pancakes, one of our specialties.

Join us for a relaxing weekend and spend your day hiking, strolling or just sitting on the wrap around porch in a rocking chair!

Cooler in the Mountains!

It has been warmer than usual in the Catskills this July, the hottest on record since they started recording temperatures but it is still 15 degrees cooler than Metro NY. So get out of the stiffling heat and humidity and drive the two hours for a cool and beautiful weekend in the Catkills! This morning we are serving homemade blueberry muffins, applesauce and blueberry jam stuffed crepes followed by yogurt with fresh fruit! The flowers are at their peak and truly beautiful. Looking forward to seeing you soon!

Catskills in Bloom!

Summer has come early this year, at least from the point of view of the flowers. At Breezy Hill, lilacs are usually at their peak on Memorial Day weekend but this year they were just about over the week before. The peonies, usually in the pink by mid June, are abundant and fragrant and spectacular! The chives are flowering and week we are serving omelets with both chives and snips of the chive flowers. Omelets are our specialty at Breezy Hill Inn! The weather is so wonderful that we are serving breakfast in the gazebo. So come for a stay and enjoy early summer!

The Daffodils are here!

There is still snow on the slopes of Belleayre and the die hard spring skiers are still shushing down the slope but here at Breezy Hill Inn, the garden beds are cleared of winters debris and spring is about to be sprung! The daffodils and forsythia are about to bloom and in places where there is full sun, the flowers are open and soaking in the sun rays. The rivers and streams are flowing, filled with mountain run off. Fishing season has officially begun. The air smells clean and the views are clear! It is quiet at the Inn today; it's Easter Sunday. A good day for contemplation of nature and good things to come this spring and summer!

Wow! We have been so busy with guests these last few weeks as a result of the terrific ski conditions that I haven't had time to dash off a few words for Catskill Innkeeper. The Inn has been full all week in celebration of President's week. We have had guests from as close as Westchester and as far away as Rio de Janiero. Everyone is raving about the conditions at Belleayre. We have been offering $24 lift tickets and starting Monday, February 22nd, we move to Buy One and Get One Free for adults! So call us an reserve a room! We'll have the homemade muffins warming and the coffee brewing as part of your two course breakfast!

Ideal Conditions at Bellearye!

After serving our guests breakfast of yogurt with honey and granola followed by crepes filled with homemade applesauce and plum jam,  we headed to the slopes. There won't be time to ski this holiday weekend so we made time this morning. The conditions at Belleayre are ideal. There has been a consistent nightly snowfall of an inch almost every night for 10 days. We were not disappointed! My favorite part of Belleayre Ski Center are the western slopes. Tomahawk lift soars up to Dot Neble run which was closed our first time up the lift put was open later in the morning. The views are spectacular and the skiing the same! So come up, spend a couple of days with us and ski Belleayre for only $24 when you stay at Breezy Hill Inn!

Catskill Snow Means Great Skiing at Belleayre!

The Christmas through New Year's week was chock-a-block with guests at the Inn. So many lovely folks and the conversation around the dining room table was lively, friendly and filled with skiing lore. I skied on Saturday as the snow was coming down; the conditions were terrific although I wish the snowboarders weren't so aggressive! I like to get on the mountain early and hit the top before it gets skied off. After Sunday's 4-6 inches and the daily snow fall of the week's forecast that won't be a problem this week! Here's a picture of the Inn from Sunday as the snow was falling. Enjoy the snow!
